Joana Sousa has graduated on Communication Sciences - Cinema and Television by Universidade Nova de Lisboa;

She holds a masters on Documentary Filmmaking by Universidade Lusófona (Portugal), LUCA - School of Arts (Belgium) and Budapest Film Academy (Hungary);

Was the production director for the cultural assocation and artistic collective "Rabbit Hole";

Worked on several editions of Queer Lisboa - International Queer Film Festival;

She is currently a Programme and Print Traffic Assistant at Doclisboa - International Film Festival;

Her film Bétail (2014) has been screened worldwide in various film festivals. It won the Take One award at the 23rd Curtas Vila do Conde and an Honorable Mention for Best Short Film at the 31st Hamburg International Short Film Festival.
