Old chewing gum transformed into skateboard wheels

Efforts to rid city streets of chewing gum are as old as gum itself. Modern chewing gum is made from synthetic rubbers that can take 50 years to start decomposing, making it a long-term mess. Now, two students at the School of Design in Nantes, France, have developed a plan to collect wads of used chewing gum and repurpose it into skateboard wheels.

The United Nations General Assembly adopted the resolution to celebrate this day on 27 April 2017

With an aim to emphasise the role of creativity and innovation in different aspects of human development, the United Nations celebrates World Creativity and Innovation Day. The day is observed on 21 April, and the main idea is to push creative multi-disciplinary thinking among different countries, at both the individual and group level.

The day is part of the World Creativity Week celebrations, which last from 15 to 21 April every year.

The first museum made entirely from recycled plastic

DelaVegaCanolasso, a Spanish design company, created a museum in Madrid made entirely of recycled plastic. The project’s goal is to get people thinking about plastics and how important it is to use them appropriately.
